Anna Sui Launches Fairy-Ful Fragrance

Punk princess Anna Sui is going ultra girly with her new fragrance Fairy Dance Secret Wish.

The designer, who often plays up dark goth tones in her fashion and fragrances, is all about frothy pink fantasy this time around.

Fairy Dance Secret Wish is set for a February release, according to Fragrantica, and contains notes of raspberry, mango and pink pepper, rose, peony, bamboo, sandalwood, vanilla and vetiver.

Sui, who hails from Dearborn, Mich. and returned to her hometown to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from ArtServe Michigan in 2008, told "In a Bottle" she always wanted to be a fashion designer.

She achieved her dream by leaving The D to attend Parsons School of Design, and fragrances are now a large part of her empire.

"In general you really really have to love what you’re doing," she said.

Fragrance Formula to be Released at "A Sense of Europe"

The International Fragrance Association announced today it will release a full fragrance formula for the first time ever.

The formula, along with samples of the fragrance, will be given to visitors to the IFRA exhibition "A Sense of Europe," which will be held in the European Parliament from Jan. 31-Feb. 2.

The public offering is designed to show the creative artistry and skill that goes into creating a fragrance.

The formula was created by Christophe Laudamiel, a world renowned perfumer whose signature scents include Abercrombie & Fitch's Fierce and Ralph Lauren's Polo Blue.

"This will be a unique opportunity to actually contemplate a genuine full fragrance formula," said a spokesperson for the IFRA in a press release issued today. "Formulae have traditionally been a closely guarded secret and are an important piece of intellectual property for the fragrance industry."

A Sense of Europe celebrates specific moments of change in European history and brings them to life through a unique combination of olfactory and visual stimuli.

The International Fragrance Association promotes the enjoyment of fragrances. It was founded in 1973 and is based in Brussels.

Stay tuned to "in a bottle" for the formula. We'll publish a copy as soon as it is released.

Androgynous Model to Back Fragrance that Goes Both Ways?

Amazingly androgynous model Andrej Pejic is reportedly lending his/her name to a fragrance with a major fashion label. I can only speculate the scent will be for men and women, as the Bosnia-Herzegovina-born beauty is the perfect face for a fragrance that goes both ways.

If you haven't seen Pejic's pics, check out this video on the HuffPo. If you are a woman, you will only dream you looked this good. If you are a man, you might think twice before clicking, as it could throw you into a spiral of sexual self-doubt. Add the sense of smell to this creature and it's a fantasy many only wish they could capture "in a bottle."

Selena Gomez Fans Pick Fragrance Notes

Selena Gomez is hoping to concoct a wonderful, magical fragrance, and she's asked her fans for help finding the perfect blend.

The 19-year-old turned it over to her followers to pick their favorite fragrance notes in an online poll. They sang a love song to raspberry as a top note, purple freesia as a heart note and vanilla as a bass note, as announced by the starlet today.

The fragrance is reportedly set for a May release at Macy's, the same department store that enjoyed record sales when it launched her beau's fragrance last June.

Justin Bieber Someday made history as the biggest celeb fragrance launch on record for Macy's, raking in more than $3 million in sales in less than a month.
For a limited time, buy Someday at Macy's, and get a free metallic purple quilted bag with purchase of $45 or more. Click here to buy.

In the meantime, stay tuned to see if Gomez throws it out to her fans to choose the name and bottle design for her much-anticipated scent.

Pan Am Star Erin Cummings Shares Her Favorite Fragrance

Baby it's cold outside.
Actress Erin Cummings is staying warm with a spritz of sexy perfume, and she's keeping others cozy through her charity Mittens for Detroit, which collects and distributes gloves and mittens to non-profits in need.
Cummings currently plays Ginny Saddler on ABC's Pan Am and just finished filming "The Iceman" with Michael Shannon and Winona Ryder. Here, the sassy star of "Bitch Slap," Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Mad Men and Detroit 187 shares her favorite scents:

What is your favorite fragrance?

Flowerbomb by Viktor & Rolf.

What does it evoke for you?

It doesn't actually evoke anything for me. Every time I visit a perfume counter, I ask what fragrance men most often buy for women. Every time, the answer is Flowerbomb. Apparently men love it because it's sweet and makes them hungry. I'm a single woman. I wear perfume because it's appealing to men. Why else would I wear perfume? If I want to smell something for myself, I'll light a candle.

What is your favorite scent that can't be captured "in a bottle" and why?

My favorite smell is my grandma. Not her perfume, just that weird, comforting "grandma" combination of mothballs, Bengay, Aqua Net hairspray and gumbo. I certainly wouldn't want to wear that as a perfume, but it's still my favorite scent because I miss her.

Violet Blonde inspired by delicate flower

THE VIOLET

A violet by a mossy stone
half hidden from the eye,
fair as a star when only one
is shining in the sky.

- William Wordsworth

Violets have given rise much poetry and song, as well as the name of my daughter. The delicate purple flowers have also inspired a recent fragrance by design guru Tom Ford.

Violet Blonde is based on powdery notes of violet and iris. It opens with violet leaf, Italian mandarin and pink pepper. The centerpiece is Tuscan iris absolute, Tuscan orris butter, Sambac jasmine and sampaquita. The base is musk, suede, cedar, vetiver and benzoin.

Miss Meghan Loves Scents Almost As Much As Shoes

Everyone who knows Miss Meghan knows she loves her stilettos. But 'America's Shoe Expert' also adores perfume. Here, the television personality and author of "Shoe Are You" shares her favorite scents, both in and out of a bottle:

What is your favorite scent?

Vanille Noire du Mexique. I loooove this scent. It's sweet but has some musky deep undertones and I mix it with this amber oil my friend brought me from Saudi Arabia.

What does it evoke for you?

My mom bought it for me for Christmas a few years back and it kind of reminds me of every year since — it's a specific part of my life. When I was younger my signature scent was PARIS by Yves St Laurent or Laura Ashley — more "perfume-y" scents and more floral. This is kind of my grown up self.

What is your favorite scent that can't be captured "in a bottle," and why?

My boyfriend's neck! Forsome reason right on his neck just smells soooo good. Right where his hair meets his collar!

Make Meow! by Katy Perry Your New Pet Perfume

Soon-to-be-ex-hubby Russell Brand no longer makes pop star Katy Perry purr, but her new fragrance is proving to be the cat's meow.

Meow! by Katy Perry Eau de Parfum, a companion to the singer's first fragrance, Purr, was created while Perry was on the California Dreams world tour promoting her platinum-selling second record, Teenage Dream.

The scent's signature comes from a pairing of honeysuckle and pear with the backdrop of creamy vanilla, musk and amber.

Meow! by Katy Perry, in its sassy pink kitten-shaped bottle, is available exclusively at Nordstrom ($45-$65). Buy now online or in store and get a free gift of a locket filled with solid perfume with your $65 purchase (while supplies last).

And while Perry has declined to appear on tonight's People's Choice Awards, which would have been her first post-divorce-announcement appearance, we know she'll land on her feet. Judging from these pictures of beautiful Katycat, she looks - and surely smells - way too sweet for that scruffy tom.
